Traditional Healing Therapies:

  • Acupuncture     One of the oldest forms healing in the world, it is the primary treatment strategy used at Ahonui Healing and consists of inserting fine disposable needles at specific points on the surface of the skin, balancing the flow of energy in the channels of the body.  The stimulation provided by these needles helps to rebalance the body's flow of Qi (vital energy), release stagnation (energetic or not), relieve pain and thus restore and improve overall bodily functions and balance, allowing for healing, maintaining health and preventing illness or disease.
  • Chinese Herbal Therapies    Prescribed in an effort to help restore balance and improve overall functioning of a person’s mental and physical well-being. Chinese herbs can be used to expel pathogens and to tonify and strengthen compromised organ and channel pathway functions.
  • Chinese Nutritional Therapy      Used in conjunction with TCM to help restore balance and improve overall body and organ functioning. Chinese diet therapy includes the use of regular, natural foods, in conjunction with Chinese herbs, and focuses on bringing balance to an individual based on their overall constitution. Chinese diet focuses on eating foods in relation to the person and the season and environment for which they are living.
  • Cupping      The use of pressured cups, which when applied to the body, lift the skin & muscle layers to help aid circulation and remove stagnant blood, while reducing swelling and pain.
  • Qi Gong Meditation      An ancient form of meditative breathing exercises which focuses on calming the mind while cultivating Qi/Energy to boost the functioning of key organs and to promote longevity in order to strengthen an individual's body.  Qi Gong Meditation exercises include boosting energy through breath, stance, and posture and is used also as a type of physical therapy and as a method of self-cultivation and disease prevention.
  • Sports Medicine     Focuses on diagnosing, treating and preventing injuries related to sports and, or, exercise participation.
  • Moxibustion      A form of TCM healing which involves burning of moxa, “mugwort”, to help in stimulating the flow of qi and blood, to promote healing and maintain well-being. Moxibustion is a heated therapy, consisting of a pungent smell and can be used to rid the body of pathogenic cold, improve circulation, reduce swelling, and boost overall organ functioning while improving the body’s natural immune functions. In addition, moxibustion has been successfully used as a safe and effective therapy in helping breech babies to turn.
  • Tui Na Medical Massage      A form of medical massage used to promote better circulation and balance within the body.

Advanced Healing Therapies:

  • Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation      A safe, painless and effective treatment alternative to traditional cosmetic dermatology, replacing the need for Botox, or other collagen fillers, even face-lifts.  Fine lines may be entirely erased, deeper lines reduced, and bags around neck and eyes firmed.  The cost is a fraction of what surgery would entail.  This advanced treatment therapy follows techniques and protocols taught by acupuncture facial expert Mary Elizabeth Wakefield. Constitutional Facial Rejuvenation improves overall facial tone by stimulating weakened muscle fibers while relaxing overwrought muscle tension. It also increases collagen production to reduce or diminish fine lines and wrinkles, while treating an individual’s overall constitution.
  • Cranial Sacral Therapy      Focuses on restoring the balance of the cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) rhythm, in an effort to promote better circulation throughout the central nervous system.  This therapy can be used in treating both structural and emotional imbalances.
  • Zheng Gu Tui Na Massage      An advanced level of Chinese Medical Massage which encompasses a full-body musculoskeletal treatment.  Zheng Gu Tui Na, founded by Tom Bisio and Frank Butler, (www.zhenggutuina.com) encompasses Tui Na, “pushing-grasping” and Zheng-Gu, “correct bone” therapy which focuses on unique mobilization techniques to quickly restore normal functioning and structural alignment of the body. Zheng Gu Tui Na is integrated with TCM treatment modalities and linked through one of four central theories and can be used to treat sports injuries and internal diseases as well.
