WHAT IS TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE & ACUPUNCTURE?
Traditional Chinese Medicine, (TCM), is a complete medical system that has been used to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases for over several thousand years, utilizing treatment theories included but not limited to Yin-Yang Theory, Zang-Fu Organ Theory, Five Element Theory and Meridian Theory. TCM treatment modalities encompass Acupuncture, Acupressure, Chinese Herbal Formulations, Cupping, MoxibustionTui Na Massage, Diet Therapy and Qi Gong Meditative breathing exercises. The focus of TCM is the prevention of disease through balancing of the body’s internal organs and channel pathways.

WHAT CONDITIONS ARE TREATED?
A variety of conditions are treated,  including but not limited to Addiction, Allergies, Anxiety, Asthma, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Common Cold, Dermatology, Diabetes, Digestive Disorders, Facial/Cosmetic Rejuvenation, Fibromyalgia, Headaches/Migraines, Immune Disorders, Infertility, Insomnia, , Menopause, Menstrual Disorders, Musculoskeletal Conditions, Muscle Weakness, Oncology Support, Pain Disorders, Psychological/Emotional Disorders, Sciatica, Sexual Dysfunction, Sports Medicine, Stress/Anxiety, TMJ, Weight Reduction, and Vertigo. Conditions treated for Pediatrics, Teenagers, Adults and Mature Adults.

DOES IT HURT?
Acupuncture causes minimal to no pain at all.  Often times, a needle is inserted and the patient does not feel anything.  Sometimes there is a feeling of warmth, energy, or light movement at the point of insertion, like a tiny pinch or tingling sensation.  Depending on the location and insertion, some acupuncture points may feel more tender than others.  The tenderness usually subsides within 30 seconds.  Regardless of the sensation, the practitioner works with you to make sure you are most comfortable.

HOW MANY VISITS ARE RECOMMENDED?
Since treatments are customized and based on each individuals need, the number of recommended visits would be discussed at your initial appointment.  In general, acute conditions make take 1 to 6 visits, while chronic conditions could take longer if symptoms continue or condition progress, more treatments may be recommended.

HOW MANY VISITS ARE RECOMMENDED?
Acupuncture facial rejuvenation usually requires 6 - 12 consecutive treatments for full goals to be achieved.  However, if a person is a smoker, or, has smoked in the past, 12 - 20 consecutive treatments may be recommended.  Once desired results are achieved, monthly or quarterly follow-up visits can then be made based on each individual's needs.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Your initial visit consists of a full medical history which is essential to your treatment plan.  Whether you are coming in for pain, depression, weight loss, fertility and, or, facial rejuvenation, it is important to take the time to go over your current medical conditions and the history leading up to your visit.  Your first visit will consist of initial paperwork, discussion, a firm understanding of what goals you would like to achieve, a pulse diagnosis, tongue reading, and possibly a facial analysis.  A treatment plan is discussed and an initial treatment is given during your first visit.

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
Although most acupuncturists do not accept insurance due to the heavy paperwork and the unnecessary limitations imposed by insurance companies, an insurance/payment receipt can be given to you so that you may attempt to be reimbursed by your insurance company.

DOES INSURANCE PAY FOR ACUPUNCTURE?
Each Insurance Carrier has a specific plan which may or may not allow for acupuncture services.  If you have a FLEX spending account or, a Health Savings Account, Acupuncture can be a health service benefit you may choose to pay out of those funds.  Otherwise, you may contact your insurance carrier to determine what they allow for in terms of 'percentage' of reimbursement for acupuncture, number of treatments allowed per year and types of treatment conditions approved for treatment through Chinese Medicine.  For example, some insure companies allow for up to 100% reimbursement, for up to 20 visits, for any type of medical condition treated in one given year.  Other insurance companies offer 20-60% reimbursement and some insurance companies do not allow for any alternative healthcare reimbursement.

ARE ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES USED MORE THAN ONCE?
No.  The Acupuncture needles we use are one-time use only.  They are individually wrapped disposable Acupuncture needles.  After one use, the fine, disposable acupuncture needles are discarded into a bio-hazard container.

WHY DOES FACIAL ACUPUNCTURE COST MORE THAN A REGULAR ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT?
Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation involves a longer treatment process which includes utilizing an herbal wash, applying multiple herbal masques, and special, delicate facial acupuncture needles.  Your facial acupuncture treatment is always followed up with a facial massage along with jade rolling for a more complete treatment that may require more time to help meet each individual's goals.
